Szávay’s opponent in Saturday’s first semifinal will be Ukraine’s Alona Bondarenko who overcame Israel’s Shahar Peer in a match with a great turn-around in the first set. Peer could only win a single game after 0-4 down in the second set, therefore, the Ukrainian eventually won 7-5, 6-1.

As for the other semifinal, only one of the participants is known.Edina Gallovits of Romania advanced there by beating Petra Martic of Croatia, 6-3, 7-6 (6), while the last quarterfinal between top-seeded Patty Schnyder of Switzerland and fifth-seeded Alisa Kleybanova of Russia was suspended due to rain with Schnyder leading 4-3 in the first set.
