Ági, Alisa and Timea in the quarterfinal
Three fantastic matches were held at the GDF Suez Grand Prix.

Today's programme at the GDF Suez Grand Prix started with two very exciting matches followed by home favourite Ági Szávay.

On the Center court qualifier Timea Bacsinszky couldn't find the remedy for Austrian Patricia Mayr's game in the first set but she recharged her batteries and came back after losing the first set 6-0.

Timea won the second set 6-3 and was 4-2 down in the third when found the rhythm and finally defeated Mayr 06 63 64 reaching her first Tour quarterfinal in 2009.

On court  5 there was an even more exciting match between 5th seeded Alisa Kleybanova and Kateryna Bondarenko. The hard hitting Russian lost the first set against Bondarenko but came back with 6-4 in the second set and seemed to win the match when she broke her opponent's serve in the third set.

Of course Bondarenko didn't give up and had two break points when Kleybanova was serving for the match at 5-4 but finally the 5th seed advanced to the quarter final with a 46 64 64 victory.

4th seeded Ági Szávay's match started at 3 PM on center court in front of about 2000 spectators against Thathiana Garbin who won the tournament in 2000 and who managed to make a 4-0 advantage in the first set. Ági could come back and save the set to tie-break which she won 7-2 for the delight of the home fans.

In the second set Garbin broke Ági's serve who equalized later, and could serve for the match at 5-3 but the highly experienced Italian won four very close games in a row and won the set 7-5.

The two players could hardly hold their serves in the third set but Ági came out on top and after a 3 hours long fantastic battle she won 76(2) 57 75 and reached the quarterfinals where she will meet her good friend, Timea Bacsinszky.

There's still one more match on center court, 1st seeded Patty Schnyder faces Maria Elena Camerin for the quarter final.
