Edina Gallovits ousted 3rd seed Sybille Bammer

After 2nd seeded Alize Cornet eliminated from the GDF-Suez Grand Prix, another seed, 3rd seeded Sybille Bammer began to play on center court. She returned to Budapest after 10 years and her opponent in the second round was Edina Gallovits from Romania who lost the first set but then fought her way back and won the match 46 75 62 and she will face qualifier Petra Martic in the quarter final.


There were two matches with Hungarian interest, both of them were doubles. Kati Marosi and Sharon Fichman defeated last year's winner, Alize Cornet, who played with Eleni Daniilidou 62 62 while the Szávay-sisters continued their match that was postponed from Monday due to rain.


The Hungarian pair lost the first set 6-1 but lead 3-0 in the second, but Ioana Raluca Olaru and Mariya Koryttseva won 6 games in a row and won the match.

Tomorrow's programme on center court starts with Timea Bacsinszky vs Patricia Mayr, followed by Ági Szávay vs Tathiana Garbin (not before 2:45 PM) and Schnyder vs Camerin.

Thursday's programme also includes Kateryna Bondarenko against 5th seeded Alisa Kleybanova but there will be three doubles matches as well, one of them with Hungarian Kati Marosi
