The last two years' champions encounter wil be the highlight of today's programme at the GDF SUEZ Grand Prix.
The 20 years old Latvian scores her first Tour victory this year on the claycourts of Estoril and she has a semifinal from Monterrey as well, while on the other side Dulgheru reached the semis in Barcelona and 's-Hertogenbosch and defended her title in Warsaw but she could defeat Safina and Dementieva too in 2010.
They will be followed by last year's finalist Patty Schnyder and 8th seeded Polona Hercog on their first encounter. The Swiss is the most experienced player of the field but this year she has only two quarterfinals. Her Slovenian opponent feel home on claycourts, she reache dthe 3rd round at the Roland Garros and the final in Acapulco (l. to Venus Williams in 3 sets).
Last year's champion Ági Szávay is also looking for her first semifinal of the year against 2008 champion Alize Cornet while Zuzana Ondarskova tries to reach her very first semifinal of her career against 9 times Tour winer 4th seeded Medina Garrigues.
